NV Vino da Tavola Riservato Agli Amica, Giovanni Scanavino

NV Vino da Tavola Riservato Agli Amica, Giovanni Scanavino
If this is what Giovanni bottled for his friends, I would love to be one. I´m guessing a blend of Barbera and Nebbiolo, possibly 70/30%, but I will never know. Possibly from the 70´s.
The nose is deep and luscious with notes of dried raspberries, plums, old asphalt, bonfire smoke and lots of undergrowth. A very fine dried up sweetness to the fruit. Didn´t budge in a open bottle to the next day.
The taste is nicely structured and dry with notes of dried up raspberries jam, gravel, fir wood and dried herbs. Medium long finish. On the palate it looses some momentum on day two. Came in a mixed case and I hade zero exceptations.

A Tasty Lineup From Laurent-Perrier

The last tasting of the season for our monthly tasting group. It was my turn and I put up these six bottles from Laurent-Perrier (the current spelling, the spelling on the two oldest bottles is Laurent Perrier, without the line between Laurent and Perrier).

NV Brut
A deep, mature, barnyardy nose with notes of mushrooms, dried peaches, cold coffee and paint. Still very much alive.
The taste is medium bodied and dry with notes of mahogany, dried cherries, gravel and mushrooms. A fine acidity. According to the seller, this bottle is from the 60´s, but who knows. I mailed both Laurent-Perrier and their Swedish importer to no avail, no answer from either, I guess they are to busy to have contact with customers...
88p   (tasted 2024/06)

NV Brut La Cuvée
From magnum. A young, steely nose with notes of peach, lemon peel, grass and gravel. High, young and fine.
A crisp, tight taste with a high acidity, stern lemon fruit and a long, pure finish. 6+ years. Depending on the vintage - 50+% Chardonnay, 30-35% Pinot Noir and 10-15% Pinot Meunier.
91p   (tasted 2024/06)

Cuvée Grand Siècle
The older of the two Grand Siècle. Since we don´t know which three vintages that have gone into this cuvée, we guess it to be from the 70´s.
The nose is soft and old with notes of linoleum, dried mushrooms, old autumn apples and assorted nuts. The scent of a mature Sercial.
The taste is dry and seedy with a high acidity, dried yellow fruits, dried grass and gravel. A tad one dimensional in the finish.

An absolute stunner, one of the best Champagne´s ever tasted. The nose is very deep and refined with gorgeous notes of tangerines, coffee powder, candied lemons, seafood stock and fried nuts. Lovely.
The taste is pure, intense and layered with everything in place - fruit, acidity and a perfect maturity. We´re guessing that this is from the late 80´s, but who knows. A truly great wine.

A Fantastic Spring Dinner

L & M invited to their annual spring dinner. It turned out to be, yet again, an amazing night with great food and wine. All tasted double blind.

NV Anthieme Extrême Les 300, Domaine Collet
We couldn´t be sure but this probably is the first vintage of this wine, the 2013, but the label doesn´t say. Only a 300 liter barrel is made. The nose is smoky and fine with notes of toasted bread, ramson, gravel and red apples. Very fine.
The taste is high and seedy with a restrained character, a high acidity and long, balanced finish. Still on the young side of things.
