Ladeiras Do Xil
2019 Gaba do Xil Godello
A fine, delicate nose with notes of ripe oranges, sun warm gravel and warm grass. Very, very good.

2018 Gaba do Xil Mencia
A deep, open nose with notes of plums, ripe strawberries, licorice and some smoky scents. A very fine sweetness to the fruit.

88p   (tasted 2021/10)

2018 Falcoeira A Capilla
The three single vineyard wines are something else though. The Falcoeira has a tight, elegant nose with notes of blueberries, black pepper and dry asphalt. A very fine depth.
The taste is young, taut and concentrated with notes of dried meat, black pepper and dark flowers. A very long, distinct finish. 6+ years.
92p   (tasted 2021/10)

2018 As Caborcas
Next up, the Caborcas is the most refined of the three, with a high, pure nose with notes of red currants, rosé pepper, fir wood and a cool tobacco scent. Very fine.
The taste is seedy and refined with notes of pomegranate, red currants, gravel and flower water. Very long. Silky tannins. Lovely. 5+ years.
93p   (tasted 2021/10)

2018 O Divisio
A refined and racy nose with notes of raspberries, sweet lingonberries, roses and earth. Very deep and complex.
The taste is pure and handsome with notes of dried raspberries, moist earth, roses and minerals. Very, very long with gorgeous tannins. Great wine. 8+ years. Only 680 bottles made...
95p   (tasted 2021/10)

Bodega Lanzaga
2016 Lanzaga
An open, light nose with fine red fruit, a good structure and a decent lenght but in the end a tad anonymous
86p   (tasted 2021/10)

2018 La Estrada
A cool, seedy nose with notes of damsons, red currants, gravel and a hint of tobacco. Very, very good.
The taste is tight and tannic with notes of red currants, gravel, rosehips and a tiny hint of a dry vanilla pod. A very fine structure. 5+ years.

2018 Tabuerniga
A deep, earthy and plummy nose soars up from the glass with additional notes of tobacco and tiles. Very fine.
The taste is balanced and multi layered with notes of plums, earth, tobacco and herbs. The finish goes on for a minute. Very concentrated. 6+ years.
93p   (tasted 2021/10)

2018 La Beatas
Pricey, but I can say, a worldclass wine. The nose is bottomless deep and focused with gorgeous black assorted fruits and notes of expensive tobacco, warm sand and minerals. Lovely.
The taste is rich and refined with every knot and bolt in place. Perfect tannins, brilliant fruit and a structure for the ages. Cellar this for 8+ years and you are looking at perfection.
97p   (tasted 2021/10)

Other wines
2018 Pegaso Arrebatacapas
This 100% Garnacha wine has a large scaled, forward nose with notes of assorted red fruits, a fine spice mix, hot earth and smoke. Very, very good.
The taste is open and direct with gorgeous sweet red fruits, red licorice, damp earth and smoke. A fine dryness at the end of the finish. Very long. Gulpable in the best sense of the word.
91p   (tasted 2021/10)

2017 Pago la Jara
A big, brawny nose with notes of raspberry licorice, bonfire smoke, asphalt and fir wood. Broad over the shoulders.
The taste is tight and smoky with a taut structure and notes of ripe red fruits, scorched earth, licorice and asphalt. Very long. Very, very good but a tad oversized for my liking.
88p   (tasted 2021/10)

2017 Molino Real
Just lovely. A deep, sweet nose with gorgeous notes of ripe peach, grilled lemons, detergent, iodine and a touch of the finest vanilla pod . Very fine. A tad Sauternes like on the nose.
The taste is refined and racy with notes of tangerines, ripe Seville oranges and wet stones. A very fine acidity. A very fine sweetness. Really fine.
