Then & Now - 1988 & 2017 Château Bouscassé

1988 Château Bouscassé
A dead ringer for a mature Bordeaux. I would have guessed a 1985 or a 1982. The nose is mature and barnyardy with notes of worn letaher, dried black currants, cigrette ashes and a hint of VA. Very good.
The taste is sandy and mature with notes of dried black currants, violets, gravel and dry tobacco. Better on the nose though. A tad thin in the middle taste. Drinking well.

2017 Château Bouscassé
The 29 year younger version is a whole other creature. Tasted a couple of months ago, it behaved even more outgoing and forward on this evening. Lots of plums, ripe black currants, asphalt and a long, structured finish that will need 5+ years to come together. A bargain for 17 Euro.
