Six Rhone Bottles


H opened these Rhone wines at our latest monthly tasting.

1999 Côte-Rôtie Seigneur de Maugiron, Delas
A round, mature nose with notes of vintage leather, dried black fruit and old stables. A fine depth.
The taste is cool and mature with notes of dried spices, earth and tobacco. A nice dry finish.

2003 Côte-Rôtie, Domaine Jamet
A tight, peppery nose with notes of ripe raspberries, undergrowth, dried meat and some rubbery notes. Complex and fine.
The taste is warm and nicely structured with notes of licorice, chrushed rocks and black pepper. Very long and intense.

2008 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Reservée, Domaine Pegau
A deep, layered nose with notes of dried blueberries, red beets, iodine and some dog fur. Very interesting.
The taste is spicy and fine with notes of assorted spices, dried flowers and a fine salty touch. Very long.

2007 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Château Beaucastel
A deep, smoky nose with notes of bonfire smoke, dry chocolate and and a fine mix of red and black berries. Very fine.
The taste is warm and generous with lots of black fruit, silky tannins and a long, long, dry finish.

2013 Cornas La Geynale, Vincent Parss
A tight, restrained nose with notes of ripe cherries, chushed rocks and spices. Very, very good.
The taste is young and seedy with notes of hard cherry candy, gravel and herbs. A fine bitterness in the finish. Very young.

2014 Cornas, Thierry Allemand
An open, smoky nose with notes of licorice, warm earth, veal stock and blueberries. Very fine.
The taste is seedy and intense with lots of ripe blueberry fruit, tight tannins and a long, fresh finish.
