1964 Clos de Vougeot, Moillard
1964 Clos de Vougeot, Moillard
A ordinary tuesday, why not drink a 55 year old Burgundy Grand Cru? Well, its not really a ordinary tuesday. Its my 55th birthday, so I have to celebrate with a 1964. More will come this weekend when there will be more celebration with the family. But this was a perfect tuesday drink with a mushroom risotto.
The nose is deep, velvety and just lovely with notes of dried up strawberry jam, dark orange peel, cooked parsnips, asphalt and furniture polish. A beautiful maturity with a complexity that only can come with bottle age.
The taste is soft yet expressive with notes of smoke, dried strawberries, yellow raisins and spices. A long finish with a fine acidity. A very fine dried up sweetness. Lovely. Fully mature but in no hurry to drink up.

Grattis!
