2008 Barolo Mantoetto, Umberto Fracassi
The only MGA from Cherasco and made by one of the most charming men in Langhe, see below notes from my two visits to Umberto and a note from a older bottle (will drink the 1964 soon).
The nose is low keyed and pure with notes of hard cherry candy, dried flowers, black tea and licorice. Cool and very fine.
The taste is still young and tight with notes of red currants, paint, iron and rosehips. A long finish with nicely polished tannins. 6+ years.
92p (tasted 2024/10)
