Drinking Tonight - 2004 Stielle, Rocca di Castagnoli

We are not spoiled in this country when it comes the state monopoly offering mature wines. And if they do, they usually cost an arm or a leg...
But this is an exception, the 2001 previously tasted here.

2004 Stielle, Rocca di Castagnoli
The nose is open, fairly big and with lots of sweet/sour cherries and additional notes of rosemary bushes, tobacco, a Tuscan gravel road and some hints of chocolate. Very good. This is almost fully mature. With air it has a scent of sugared coffee.
The taste is medium bodied with nice notes of red cherries, lingonberries, licorice, hard cherry candy and some chocolaty notes. The finish is dry and fine. Could be cellared for 3-5 years more but it wont get any better. Very good. The same level of quality as the 2001.
Went perfectly with a pasta dish with chicken, tarragon and mushrooms on this Sunday evening.
