What could be more satisfying than a glass or two of a great white Burgundy on a Friday evening after a looong week?
Not much. But a plate of grilled scallops with a truffle scented Jerusalem artichoke purée did a perfect matching job.
2008 Corton-Charlemagne, Vincent Girardin
A young, deep, lovingly scented nose with notes of lemon curd, hazelnuts, lime fudge, butter cookies and some sweet summer flowers. With air a striking minerality comes forward. Deep, young and very, very fine.
The taste is tight, young and full of gorgeous sweet yellow fruit and notes of lemon pie, fudge, lime juice, lots of minerals and a hint of milk chocolate. The finish is long, fresh and with plenty of tight acidity. This sure have a great future - give it at least 6 years. A beauty!
