1978 Château Citran
1978 Château Citran
A bit funky when popped and poured - as older Bordeaux usually are - but after 20 minutes it displays classic notes of dry cassis, cold coffee, autumn leaves and that beautiful scent of old, worn Chesterfield armchairs. Not heaps of finesse but very good.
The taste is medium bodied and dry with notes of dried up black currant jam, dusty earth, old chocolate biscuits and a hint of bonfire smoke. The nose is fresher and more alive. Went perfectly with a veal chop.
87p (tasted 2019/09)
Other vintages tasted:
1990 Château Citran
1995 & 2005 Château Citran
1996 Château Citran
2000 Château Citran
