1978 Barolo, Aldo Olivero
Needs an hour in the decanter to blow of the 41 year bottle funk. The nose is fine and deep with round notes of red beets, Christmas spices, undergrowth, old licorice and lavender. A fine dried up sweetness. Very, very good.
The taste is mature, with a fine warmth and notes of dried up cherry jam, asphalt, iron and spices. Medium long. A fine, low keyed maturity. I love that the label has the phone number to the estate on it!
88p (tasted 2019/10)
