The last wine of this short mini holiday in the south of Sweden. And what a way to finish - the youngest and freshest of them all!
2004 Barolo Pie Rupestris, Cappellano
A completely riveting and fascinating nose with lovely notes of sweet lingonberries, warm rosehips, fresh mushrooms, some undergrowth and a touch of milk chocolate. After some time a lovely aroma of warm rosemary emerges. Really deep and fine. Soooooo fine. Ethereal.
The taste is tight, young and pure with notes of lingonberry bushes, cherry pips, licorice and an elegant tobacco note. The finish goes on for a minute and leaves an impression of class, elegance and substance. This is what real Barolo drinking is all about. Stunning stuff, but wait another 5-8 years. please. Just gorgeous.
Since the late Theobaldo didn´t want his wines to be scored, I never do (but this one would have received a high score...:-))
