The First Rosé of Summer

Almost a year ago, the 2011 of this wine really made me smile. When I saw the new vintage on the shelf I grabbed a bottle. But...

2012 Sancerre Les Baronnes Rosé, Henri Bourgeois
The nose is young, fresh and pure with notes of rhubarb, red currants, raspberry candy and a touch of white peppar. Nice, upfront and fine.
The taste on the other hand suffers from lack of juicy fruit; it has a rather course character with notes of unripe lingonberries, red currants and a touch of gravel. It ends dry with a astringent note. With a warm pasta salad it fears well, but on its own its to narrow. The 2011 vintage was much better.
