Some Oldies - 1982, 1985 & 1990

1985 Cabernet Sauvignon Riserva, Jean Leon
A fine, soft maturity with notes of dried black currants, earth, old leather and some barnyardy aromas. If this had been poured blind I would be certain that it would be a Bordeaux about the same age.
The taste is dry and mature with a fine mouthfeel and notes of damsons, dried black currants, earth and tobacco. Fully mature but no hurry to drink any remaining bottles.
90p   (tasted 2022/10)

1985 Chianti Classico Riserva, Le Fioraie
A warm, mature nose with notes of bakelite, dried cherries, dried herbs and hot earth. Very good.
The taste is dry and a tad foursquare with notes of herbs, dried cherries, almonds and earth. Fully mature and maybe then some.
86p   (tasted 2022/10)

1990 Corton, Michel Vidal
A lovely, deep, mature nose with notes of dried strawberries, forest floor, herbs and a wonderful perfumed note. Very fine.
The taste is cool and mature with notes of warm rocks, dried strawberries, herbs and red beets. A very fine sweetness to the fruit. Mature but not overly so.
91p   (tasted 2022/10)

1982 Barolo, Guasti Clementi
A earthy, mature nose with notes of rosehips, dried coffee, moist forest floor and some animal scents.
The taste is dry and mature with notes of dried red fruits, dry asphalt, dried herbs and gravel. A tad dry in the finish.
84p   (tasted 2022/10)
