1997 Barolo Pajana, Domenico Clerico
A very deep, earthy nose, showing some maturity and fine notes of dried cherries, violets, fried mushrooms and asphalt. A gorgeous Langhe earth aroma after some time in the glass.
The taste is deep and rich with notes of sandelwood, licorice, dried up cherry jam and forest floor. A long, long finish with silky tannins. Will go on for another 6+ years, last tasted five years ago - Barolista: Election Barolo - 1997 Barolo Pajana, Domenico Clerico - when I said the same thing...
94p (tasted 2023/09)
No, no, no… These wines from Clerici are in a decline. Even the 2001s are barely holding up. I’ve heard this from a good source. 😎
ReplyDeleteThe same source that gives all wines from Aldo Conterno 87p...?
