Tonight a few of us are going to open and drink these bottles.
Some years ago me and three friends shared a cellar. And on top of the monthly rent we put some additional money and bought bottles when we came across something we thought would be fun to taste along the line.
When these are gone after tonight, we still have some interesting bottles to share...:-)
But now I will get back to prepare the black pepper sauce for the main course. Will be back with a tasting post soon.
The vintages are 1980, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999 (not in the pic.)
After tonight's tasting of Ch d'Ampuis (complete lineup 95-09) a safe bet would be 1999 as WOTN.
ReplyDeleteAlmost.....but the 98 took the price - a perfect wine, the 99 just got a measly 99p...:-)
DeleteGaah - looks incredible - what a line-up! Do you also have a similar set of La Turques and Moulines? The 91 Turque and 98 Mouline have been great (97-99) wines! Would love to taste them again. Best regards - Peter
ReplyDeleteSorry no, Peter, I haven´t...:-(
DeleteThere was a couple of years since I drank the 91 Turque but then it was a masterpiece! Should still be.
What is your view on 1997 as a vintage i Nothern Rhone? (Hermitage and Cote Rotie)
ReplyDeleteHi Morten, first I should say that I don´t have that vast range of experience to make a judgement, but based on the ones that I have taste during the years - La Chapelle, Les Bessards, d´Ampuis, La Mouline and even Guigals basic Cote-Rotie, I would say that it is a very good year. And the La Landonne proved that point on this evening. I wouldn´t hesitate to buy a well stored example of the ones mentioned above if the price was right.
