Drinking Tonight - 2008 Heytesbury Chardonnay, Vasse Felix

I needed a good Chardonnay to pair with the creamy fish soup I had prepared for tonight. I thought that this bottle would work. It did.

2008 Heytesbury Chardonnay, Vasse Felix
The 08 Heytesbury displays a deep, ripe, smoky nose with notes of lemon cream, summer flowers, sweet minerals, butter cookies, banana peel and lots of autumn leaves burning in the wind. Very, very good. A hint of maturity. Lovely yellow fruit. Great.
The taste is taut, structured and somewhat mature with fine notes of candied lemon peel, gravel, dried flowers and a hint of a Tahiti vanilla pod. A very fine acidity. A long, long fine finish that ends dry. This is a really fine bottle of Chardonnay. Will probably stay on this level for 5+ years.
93p   (tasted 2015/10)
