Empordà Notes - Part IV

Two gentle giants of Empordà - made from vines more than 120 years old. Gotta love this old viney feeling from this fine wines.

2018 Coma Bruna Trés Old Vineys, Espelt
From vines planted in 1901, this 100% Carignan wine displays a high, fine nose with notes of scorched earth, Maraschino cherries, violets and dried flowers. Very fine.
The taste is tight, complex and fine with notes of plums, asphalt, dried up cherry jam and dried spices. Very long. Even better on day two. Really fine.

2018 Finca Butarós Viney Centernària, Mas Llunes
The vines of Finca Butarós was planted in the end of the 19th century. The nose soars up from the glass with notes of dried meat, warm tiles, plums and garrigue. Still young and slitghtly restrained.
The taste is big, bold and inky with steady tannins, notes of asphalt, black plums, dried rosemary and graphite. A very long finish, old viney feeling. Great wine. 6+ years. A blend of Grenache and Carignan.
