After a few days work after two weeks vacation over Christmas and New Year, and recovering from a cold, I am exhausted and in need of a bottle of wine, and some Italian delicatessen to go along.
1995 Brunello di Montalcino Prime Donne, Donatelli Cinelli Colombini
A dense, somewhat mature nose with notes of rich black cherries, rosemary, Tuscan gravel and a whiff of dark chocolate. A fine maturity. A very fine sweetness. Round and rewarding, Really good. Some smoky scents after a while, and a dark perfumed aroma.
The taste is velvety, warm and almost mature with fine dryness and firmness, alongside sweet black cherries, violets, tobacco and chocolate covered raspberries. Soft, juicy tannins. Long and fine. Drinking perfectly tonight.
