Rosso di Montalcino & Risotto
The combination of a velvety risotto with lamb sausage and ceps and a young, vibrant Rosso di Montalcino was immensely successful last night. The flavors went perfectly with each other. And the Rosso di Montalcino was a nice preview to the Brunello project that will start in a couple of weeks time. Stay tuned! :-)
2010 Rosso di Montalcino, Ciacci Piccolomini d´Aragona
A cool, fresh, upfront nose with lots of cherry pips, lingonberry bushes, rose petals, gravel and a hint of cigarette ashes. Very, very juicy fruit. Young and vibrant.
The taste is young and springy with gorgeous cherry fruit and notes of balsa wood, rosehips, hard cherry candy and some saw dust (not in a negative way). Fresh acidity. This is drinking really well, although it could use 1-2 years in the cellar.
