Last night I made a dish with tiger prawns, and some garlic, selleri, fennel and lime - very tasty. With that kind of ingredients I was eager for some Riesling, and I opened:
2009 Vom Roten Schiefer Riesling, Clemens Busch
A fine, elegant, young nose with notes of oranges, honey, lemons and lots of sweet minerals. Deep and spicy. Some fennel/licorice. Very fine. A beautiful after-the-rain note after a while.
The taste is elegant and spicy with very good acidity and mineral laden yellow fruit. Touch of lime. Tangerine and orange peel in the finish. On its own it is great drinking, but with the food it is a little too sweet. Long.
