Two fine, different expressions of Pinot Noir.
2012 Sta Rita Hills Pinot Noir, Lompoc Wine Co
A warm, balanced nose with notes of ripe raspberries, asphalt, fried herbs, cap gun smoke and tobacco. A very fine, laid back warmth.
The taste is ripe and fruity yet handomely restrained with a fine acidity and notes of tobacco infused raspberries, Finnish licorice, herbs and leather. A long, juicy finish. A hint of maturity. Very, very good. For drinking now and the coming 6+ years.

2014 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Village, Domaine de Tilleuls
After tasting this beauty a couple of months ago I bought a bunch. Time to test drive a bottle.
The nose is a dream, with spicy, deep and concentrated aromas of ripe wild raspberries, nutmeg, forest floor and raspberry licorice. High, intense and addictive.
The taste is pure and refreshing yet with a firm backbone, a stern acidity and a long, long, structured finish. However, the fruit is playful and flirty, with notes of hard raspberry candy, rosehips, licorice, tarragon and smoke. Just lovely. Will be fun following this over the years, I guess it will hitting its peak in 8-12 years time. I will report back then...
