Drinking Tonight - 1976 Vosne-Romanée Les Malconsort, Domaine Clos Frantin

After the firework of Burgundy´s (notes to follow) weekend I needed more!

1976 Vosne-Romanée Les Malconsort, Domaine Clos Frantin
From a batch of bottles with hardy recognisable labels I opened one with 3 cm ullage - there are bottles ranging from 1 to 5 cm ullage. The cork broke in two but there were no problem getting the pieces up. A beautiful pale color meets my eyes when I pour the wine in the glass.
Aaaah, no problems here! A wonderful round, sweet mature Pinot nose with notes of (over)ripe raspberries, beet juice, parsnips, blood orange peel and some animal fur. Not that deep but very complex and fine. Perfect maturity.
The taste is mature, round and rather perky with dry raspberry fruit and notes of old leather, beets, dried herbs and forest floor. The finish is medium long and dry. A fine, elegant acidity. Lightness in a glass, the bottle just seem to evaporate...
