1993 Barolo, Virna Borgogno
Needed an hour in the decanter before it opens up. Then it displays a low keyd, structured nose with notes of dried strawberries, asphalt, earth and decaying flowers. A fine old school Nebbiolo nose.
The taste is dry and tight with notes of red currants, asphalt, rosehips and some still rough ended tannins. Medium long and fine. Mature but bottles like this will go on for 6+ years. Another fine bottle from this underrated vintage.
