Two Oldies But Goodies

1988 Hattenheimer Pfaffenberg Riesling Spätlese Trocken, Schloss Schönborn
The nose is mature, soft and semi dry with notes of dried orange peel, apricots, wet asphalt, hay and rubber. Dry honey. Mature and interesting.
The taste is very much drier than the nose leads you to believe (but maybe not the label...) with notes of dry nuts, asphalt, dry grass and linoleum. Medium long and very good.

1990 Barbaresco Vigneto Rocche dei 7 Fratelli, Eredi Lodali
From a half bottle, this need some time in the glass before revealing fine notes of red currants, dry violets, shoe polish and sweet Langhe soil. Very, very good.
The taste is tight and earthy with notes of dried flowers, red cherries, licorice and some tobacco notes. A very fine dried up warmth. Long. Glad I have more half bottles.
