Barbaresco From Albino Rocca

These were tasted at Wine Affair´s trade tasting a couple of weeks ago.

2017 Barbaresco Montersino, Albino Rocca
A fine, delicate nose with notes of fresh strawberries, forest floor and licorice. Very, very good.
The taste is sandy and structured with notes of sandelwood, licorice and wild strawberries. Very long and fine.

2017 Barbaresco Ovello Vigna Loreto, Albino Rocca
A deep, taut nose with notes of scorched earth, granite and black cherries. Dense and dark. Very fine.
The taste is tight and concentrated with notes of black cherries, chrushed rocks, violets and dried flowers.
8+ years.

2017 Barbaresco Ronchi, Albino Rocca
A very fine, refined nose with a mix of red and black cherries, rose petals, forest floor and asphalt. Lovely.
The taste is rich and textured with notes of hard cherry candy, asphalt, dried flowers and minerals. Racy tannins. Very fine.

I have very fond memories of The Barolo Boys visit to the estate in 2009. We had a great tasting and then a long, wonderful lunch with Angelo Rocca (who died in a plane crash in 2012).

Angelo and his father
