2001 Barbaresco Riserva Rabaja, Bruno Giacosa

2001 Barbaresco Riserva Rabaja, Bruno Giacosa
S generously opened this gem at the end of my ten year celebration of this blog. The nose is just wonderful with lovely notes of ceps, dried up cherry jam, Finnish licorice and assorted spices. A very fine touch of maturity, although it is far from fully mature.
The taste is tighter than the nose with notes of hard cherry candy, sun warm asphalt, fresh mushrooms and a ever so tiny hint of mint. The finish goes on and on. Give this another 8+ years and you probably looking at perfection.
