2013 Côtes du Rhône Réserve, Les Dauphins
According to the info that accompanied the bottle this is made up of 75% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre. Since it has 105% grapes in it I had expected a powerful wine! It isn't. :-)
But it is very nice all the same. The nose is young, sprightly and fresh with notes of just ripening blueberries, thyme, dry undergrowth, an hint of bacon and some rubber notes. Very good. Not that deep but it has some intensity.
The taste is medium bodied, young and healthy with notes of blueberries, dried herbs, rosehips and a fine white pepper touch in the finish. Maybe to weak to handle the bigger steaks on the grill but it was a good match to the salssicia we fried up yesterday.
