A Bottle Of Bubbly - 2011 Comtes de Champagne, Taittinger

Wine Affair invited to a tasting with the release of the 2011 Comtes de Champagne. Impossible to resist!

NV Brut Réserve, Taittinger
An open, nicely toasted nose with notes of red apples, Christmas spices and nougat. Very nice.
The taste is medium bodied, direct and fruity with a fine acidity and creaminess. For drinking now and the coming 6+ years. Very, very good.

2011 Comtes de Champagne, Taittinger
Needed a lot of air to open up. The nose is spicy and complex with notes of white currants, flint, birch leaves, matchbox and freshly washed clothes drying in the wind. Very fine.
The taste is cool, pure and concentrated with notes of yellow apples, white currants, flint and dry caramel. A stern acidity. Very long. Needs time, I would wait 6+ years before opening a bottle. Will be released on the 10th of November.
