1988 Barolo Riserva Maggiore, Rocche Dei Manzone
A nice, mature drink on this Friday evening. It opens up with a lot of forest floor, warm herbs, dark candle grease, asphalt, bonfire and some dog fur for complexity. Just mature, finely structured and deep. A very fine warmth.
The taste is compact yet silky with a fine maturity and with notes of dried cherries, bonfire, rosehips, dry licorice and cranberries. Long lasting with a fine ending with a dried up sweetness of ripe strawberry fruit. This is wearing its 30 years with ease.
