Three More Spaniards

2016 Quindals, Mas Estela
A deep, fine nose with notes of blackberries, dried strawberries, warm sand, pepper and tobacco. A very fine sweetness to the fruit.
The taste is balanced and handsome with seedy black fruit, polished tannins and a long warm finish. Very, very good. 4+ years. Garnatxa Negra, Syrah I Samso.
90p   (tasted 2023/10)

2016 Finca Butaros Vinya Centenaria, Mas Llunes
From a vineyard planted in the end of the 19th century, this is a impressive creature. The nose soars up from the glass with notes of thyme, overripe strawberries, orange peel, newly laid asphalt and toasted bread. Very deep and complex.
The taste is rich, tight and concentrated with massive fruit, silky tannins and a lenght counted in minutes. Brilliant fruit. Gorgeously balanced. Calmed down a bit on day two, but still, a well mannered beast. 8+ years.
96p   (tasted 2023/10)

1.19 (2019) MigMig, La Vinyeta
A open, broad nose with notes of red apples, shoe polish, rosemary, sweet/sour cherries and red wine vinegar. Deep and complex.
The taste is finely tuned with notes of hard cherry candy, scorched earth, earth and tobacco. Very, very long. 5+ years. 50% Garnatxa Roja and 50% Marselan.
