Wine & Food Of New Years Eve

Another great last day of the year that have come and gone. Friends, food and wine - what could be better?

2008 Brut, Louis Roederer
We started with two vintages of Louis Roederer Brut. The 08 shows of a deep, broad nose with some mature notes in the shape of dry caramel, sandelwood and dried mango. Very fine.
The taste is tighter than the nose leads me to believe with notes of tangerines, toasted bread and spices. A very fine acidity. Drink now and the coming 5+ years.

2013 Brut, Louis Roederer
The 5 years younger Roederer jumps out of the glass with notes of smoke, yellow apples, dry passionfruit and fried bread. Very fine.
The taste is tight and pure with notes of yellow apples, matchbox, toasted bread and apricot. Very long. Still young, 5+ years.

2021 Loibner Ried Steinertal Riesling Smaragd, Alzinger
A elegant, pure nose with notes of birch leaves, dried pine apple, grass and minerals. Very, very good.
The taste is racy and fine with a high acidity and nice yellow fruit. Long and mineral laden.

2006 Vogler, Peter Dipoli
A mature, deep nose with notes of dried oranges, autumn apples, warm grass and gravel. A very fine Sherry note.
The taste is pure and layered with lots of dried yellow fruits, chrushed rocks and a fine acidity. Very fine.

2010 Chablis 1er Cru La Forest, Vincent Dauvissat
A high, stony nose with notes of candle grease, chives, green apples and some blood grape notes. Very complex.
The taste is pure like a mountain river with stunning notes of almond paste, lemon cream, tangerines and lots of sweet minerals. Still very young. Great wine.

2018 Ried Sulz Morillon, Tement
A ddep, fat nose with notes of dried apples, birch sap and warm grass.
The taste is tight and mineral laden with a fine acidity and and a warm yellow fruit. Very long.

2018 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Champlots, PYCM
A taut, intense nose with notes of grilled lemons, vanilla fudge, lemon licorice and a gorgeous salty note.
The taste is tight and concentrated with a great purity and laser like focus, with a high acidity and a finish that goes on and on.

2022 La Petite Montagne, Pierre Girardin
A large scaled, smoky nose with notes of grilles lemons, yellow apples and ripe flowers. Very fine.
The taste is rich and concentrated with notes of apricots, sun warm rocks and dried flowers. Very long.

1976 Corton, Emile Chandesais
A mature, light nose with notes of moist earth, dried red berries and thyme. A fine warmth.

2012 Barolo Cannubi, Burlotto
A deep, harmonious nose with notes of dried strawberries, violets, ripe flowers and paint. Very fine.
The taste is structured and balanced with lovely red fruit, sandy tannins and a long, taut finish. Could use a few more years in the cellar.

2006 Château Canon-La-Gaffiliére
An open, decadent nose with notes of ripe plums, sugared coffee, asphalt, violet pastilles and black flowers. Very fine.
The taste is young, focused and tighter than the nose leads you to believe, with notes of tobacco, leather, violets and fine polished tannins. A long, warm finish.
