1998 Château Grand-Pey-Lescours

1998 Château Grand-Pey-Lescours
When I tasted this two years ago I thought that it was "in a perfect drinking phase". Time to open another bottle and check out any development.
When popped and poured it displays some murky stable notes that soon blows away, leaving room for nice notes of fresh stables instead and additional scents of plums, fir smoke, pipe tobacco, leather and even some meaty, sausage aromas. Bigger than last time, as I remember, and better.
The taste is on the verge of full maturity with notes of black currants, plums, tobacco, chocolate biscuits and warm rocks. A very nice mouthfeel with a hint of dryness at the end. Again, drinking great, but bottles like this could be kept for another 6+ years. A very nice 20 year old Bordeaux.
