2012 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, Casa Emma
I tasted this at a trade tasting a couple of months ago, liked it and wanted some more time with a bottle, or, in this case, a half bottle.
2012 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, Casa Emma
From a half bottle. A warm, spicy cherry nose with notes of leather, rosemary, wood smoke and sun warm rocks. Very fine. Some dark chocolate in the background. A fine warmth to the fruit.
The taste is young and tight with notes of hard cherry candy, smoke, licorice and dried herbs. A long, warm finish with velvety tannins and a snappy acidity. Drinking great alongside some grilled veal chops and a hearthy salad.
