2011 Barolo Simposio, Bel Colle

2011 Barolo Simposio, Bel Colle
The grapes for the Simposio comes from different vineyards in Verduno. Fermented in steel tanks, the upbringing is 36 months in Slavonian casks.
The nose is - after two hours in a decanter - open and inviting with notes of dried raspberries, plums, smoke, bakelite and a touch of tar. Very, very good. A fine warmth to the fruit.
The taste is deep and seedy with notes of dry licorice, undergrowth, ripe lingonberries and some hard cherry candy. An upliftning acidity and fine grained tannins in the end of the finish. Gets better and better with air, the last sip is the best. 5+ years. More info here.
