Two Mature Baroli

1964 Barolo Riserva Stravecchio, Luigi Pistone
A soft, mature nose with notes of moist undergrowth, mushrooms, cold coffee, stale Coca-Cola and dried flowers. Held up well for three days.
The taste is dry and linear with a fine dried up sweetness and a long, warm finish. There is still some tannins remaining in the finish. Very, very good.

1970 Barolo Riserva Speciale Cannubi, Tenuta Carretta
A high, fine nose with notes of green skiwax, walnuts, forest floor and dry chocolate. Very, very good. Opens up during day two and actually best on day three, the fruit is sweeter then.
The taste is dry and linear with notes of earth, dried red fruits, tobacco and worn leather. As the nose, gets better with air and best on day two.
