I keep going at my Empordà quest with three more bottles, one white and two reds. The quality of these wines are great and you can buy them for a song. You can pick up bottles with some age in the shops, a rare treat.
The first chapter - Barolista: Empordà Notes - Part I
2024 Nívia, Mas Llunes
A deep, cool nose with notes of peach, mango, cap gun smoke and a hint of perfumed washing powder. Very, very good.
The taste is ripe and creamy with a good acidity, fresh yellow fruit and a salty note in the finish.

2018 Coma Fredosa, Hugas de Batlle
A hint of maturity, warmth and a fine spicy nose with notes of fir wood, fresh stables, leather and Christmas spices. Some Bordeaux similarities. Very, very good.
The taste is big and steady with notes of clove, plums, coffee powder and a hint of warm chocolate. A long, dry finish. The cepage is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Garnacha and 5% Merlot.

2022 Negre Dels Apres, Vinyes Dels Apres
A young, restrained and refined nose with notes of ripening blackberries, dark chocolate, warm tiles and fine dark perfume. Very fine.
The taste is tight and structured with taut tannins, a fine black fruit and a long, vigorous finish. Really fine. 4+ years.
Made from 69% Grenache and 31% Carignan. The cork is farmed out of their own estate.
