This is our third trip to land between Barcelona and the French border which is known as Catalonia - see notes from earlier visits below.
The first order of business every day is to hike, but when that is done - pool, shower, dinner and of course wine!
I have grown very found of the wines from Empordà. This is the land of old vine Carignan and Grenache, 33% of the vine are older than 30 years and 3% were planted in the end of the 19th century.
But there are also other grapes allowed such as Cabernet Sauvignong, Syrah, Tempranillo and others.
There are only 32 growers in the DO which makes a very small wine growing area indeed.
